Youth ages “13-25ish” are invited to attend the third annual Sacred Earth Camp, organized by Salal + Cedar, a watershed discipleship community in Vancouver, British Columbia (Coast Salish Territory). Salal + Cedar hopes other watershed discipleship communities will send young people to learn together and build community.
In week 1, participants will spend time at Southlands Heritage Farm, while week 2 will focus on a permaculture project on the Powell River. The two weeks will focus on practical, concrete skills such as farming, plant knowledge, and conservation science, as well as community organizing, anti-oppression, public speaking, spiritual practices, and activism. Participants will learn about and participate in activism around environmental justice, indigenous knowledge and rights, connecting with God in nature, building self-knowledge and self-esteem, and building relationships with people and other species.
